Meet the Principal

Mr. Aalfs has a long history in the Barrington 220 School District. Prior to his return to Hough, he was the Principal of Station Middle School for two years, after working as the Hough Street Principal for seven years. He also previously worked at Station as an Assistant Principal.

His career in education began as a fourth grade elementary teacher at Meadowdale Elementary School in the fall of 1991. In 1995 he moved to Hampshire Middle School and taught 7th and 8th Grade History for nine years. In 2004 he became an Assistant Principal at Station Middle School. In 2007 he took a position at Hampshire Elementary School as the Principal until he came to Hough Street School at the start of the 2013 school year.

Principal Aalfs earned his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Judson University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University.

Spending time with family and being outdoors as much as possible gives Mr. Aalfs great joy. He hopes to retire to the mountains.
